Make A Difference For Our Kids
The children of Bragg Elementary School in Chester, NJ begin school earlier and earlier each year - now going back to school on August 24th. Our kids are robbed of a full summer vacation when their back-to-school start date is well before Labor Day.
Students and teachers alike benefit from summer break as a time to recuperate from the constant stress from deadlines, work, and test-taking. In addition to the much-needed break, it’s exhausting to be stuck in a classroom and forced to concentrate during the end-of-summer heat.
Most New Jersey classes are back in session in September, typically after Labor Day.
Meanwhile, the early start date at Bragg Elementary School means that over 300 students and 38 full-time teachers don’t get to enjoy a full, relaxing summer with their families. Forcing students, teachers, and other staff members to work hard during the harsh heat is not only abbreviating a fun summer break, it’s also downright inefficient and unnecessary.
The students of Bragg Elementary School look forward to summer break all year long. They work hard for many months and deserve an entire summer to have fun with their families. Let’s come together to save our kids’ summers and push the school start date after Labor Day.
